More Republican disarray. With 15 pro-life Democrats voting against it, the stem cell bill passes 253-174. That's not particularly good news; the President will almost certainly veto this one again, and while the override will likely succeed in the Senate (I count Allen, Dewine, Talent, and Burns as anti-stem cell Republicans replaced by pro-stem cell Democrats), getting a 2/3s majority in the House looks much tougher. Even if the pro-life Dems are persuaded to poke the President in the eye, the pro-stem cell side is still 22 votes short. Some sort of compromise may be needed to get this thing into law.
