Dave Weigel's parsing of this FOX News polls comes up with a few interesting examples of poorly veiled right wing memes, but this one is my favorite:
It reads: "Recently, authorities broke up a terrorist cell that was plotting the most serious terrorist attacks on American soil since the September eleventh attacks. Do you support or oppose using harsh interrogation techniques on the subjects who were captured to learn more about their plans and connections?"
Of course, the plot was foiled without the use of the euphemistically named "enhanced interrogation techniques." But look, it'd be naive to think that FOX was the only one aching to bring out the waterboard here, and this would be easier to laugh at if the Obama administration wasn't exploiting fear of terrorism to preserve the surveillance state even as it leaves the torture state behind.
