SUNNI WORLD. I'm supposed to do a plug for Marc Lynch's new piece on the Sunnis, the surge, and the implications of Abu Risha's death. So first I was going to highlight his explanation of the ideological conflicts between al Qaeda in Mesopotami and the nationalist Sunni groups, because that's interesting stuff. But then I read his bit on how the Sunni literature narrates recent developments, telling of a defeated US humbly asking the Sunnis for help in calming Iraq, and figured I better go with that. And then I read the part of the Sunnis fears that they'll lose political unity and thus clout. And that's about the time I decided to stop trying to summarize the piece, and just tell you to read it.. --Ezra Klein
