Just got an e-mail from the folks running "The Big Tent" progressive events site in Denver. Among other luminaries, they're touting a speech by T. Boone Pickens. My understanding is that Pickens is basically making a bankshot political play where he uses the media attention that comes from an energy executive promoting a clean energy plan as cover to convince Texas and California to give him billions in government handouts. In other words, the guy's a fraud running an innovative corporate welfare scheme, but a corporate welfare scheme nevertheless. Why are progressives uniting behind this guy? Am I missing something?
