Why did Senate Democrats roll over for Michael Hayden?
The days surrounding the latest batch of domestic wiretapping/data mining news were Bush's lowest ever. Since then, his approval seems to have stabilized, if not recovered by a point or two. Why not grill Hayden in front of the cameras, drag the nomnation process through the mud, and make Bush & Co. defend snooping on millions of people for a few more days.
The handful of "nay" votes are interesting too. Essentially, everyone who's thinking about running for President except Joe Biden—Bayh, Hillary, Dodd, Feingold—voted against the nomination.
