The 2006 elections managed to eliminated an awful lot of dreck from the Republican Caucus. With George Allen, Tom Delay, Bob Ney, Dick Pombo, Curt Weldon, and Rick Santorum all excised from the Capitol, who stands to emerge as the radical conservative lightning rods of the next few years? Clearly Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) is a strong contender, as well as Rep. 'Smokey' Joe Barton (R-TX), though he keeps a somewhat lower profile. Roy Blunt (R-MO) is the real heir to DeLayism, but he so far has had the brains to keep a low profile. But remarkably, a rather large percentage of the particularly vocal right-wingers seem to have lost elections.
I have to be overlooking some worthy candidates. Who are your nominees for "most likely to say something utterly insane on a Fox News panel"?
