The latest Pew poll shows Obama's lead over McCain widening to 52-38. There are lots of fun internal numbers, but my favorite is that Sarah Palin is exceedingly unpopular among the very group John McCain was pandering to by naming her his running mate. While 49 percent of voters have a negative view of Palin, 60 percent of women dislike her. And according to the poll, Palin truly is a drag on McCain: "opinions of Palin have a greater impact on voting intentions than do opinions of Joe Biden, Obama’s running mate."
The results are confirmed by an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, which finds that for the first time since Palin's nomination, a majority of voters now view her unfavorably. Even more drastically, Palin's unfitness to assume the presidency now ranks as voters' number one concern about McCain. Palin truly is a first: a v.p. nominee who is having a deep, negative effect on the fate of the ticket.
In other Palin news, Politico reports that the RNC has spent over $49,000 $149,000 clothing its vice presidential nominee and her family -- including hundreds of dollars in top-end baby accessories for tiny Trig. Those are some real working-class, Red America values, right there! Mavericky!
