This unrelated post of Ana Marie Cox's reminds me: Folks have got to stop using voicemail. In the age of text messages, e-mails, and missed call notifiers, forcing me to wait through 14 other messages for the one I need to hear is...not the way to get heard. I know the iPhone is going to let you listen to specific messages and that'll revolutionize the form, but it's too late. Texts are quicker. E-mail is quicker. And if you just want me to know you called, the missed call screen does the job adequately. If we could all somehow agree that voice messages were only for particularly important, complicated messages that the other forms were unsuited to conveying, than I'd know to listen when they came, rather than missing important information as I procrastinate on clearing my message queue.
