M. Taft did not have a good experience with democracy:
Ukrainian Village, Chicago, IL:My roommate and I got to the polling place across the street from our apartment at 6am. There were maybe 4 or 5 people ahead of us in line. When it came our turn, we were informed that neither of our names were down in the polling station's big book of voter names. No matter that my roommate and I both had our voter registration cards and had confirmed our active registration status online. We were told we could only vote provisionally, meaning we could only vote for federal positions. And then, only maybe would these votes count. We were told to call tomorrow and ask if our votes had been accepted. I'm not really certain what the purpose of this would be. A couple behind us in line also had their voter registration cards and they also were told that their names were not in the books. This meant that out of a group of 7, 4 of us had to vote provisionally. Maybe it was just a fluke. But only 3 out of 7 registered voters allowed to vote?!? That's a PROBLEM.
