Sarah Posner reports on the Religious Right:
- Mike Huckabee has emerged as the evangelical movement's next important leader, having beaten back Mitt Romney's cynical supporters:
For Huckabee supporters, the flip-flopping Mormon exemplifies the mistakes evangelicals have made in hitching their wagons to insincere politicos who want them to pull the lever every Election Day but offer nothing in return.
At the same time, it isn't clear what potpourri of evangelical issues Huckabee plans to make his signature cause.
- The smear campaign against John Hagee's supposed anti-Catholicism distracts from his very real adherence to end-times doctrine.
- The American Spectator accuses Sen. Chuck Grassley of hypocrisy in his crusade against prosperity gospel preachers.
- And finally, intelligent design propaganda film Expelled can apparently only expel one creationist critic from its screenings at a time.
