We'll talk about bailouts tomorrow. For now: Food blogging. It's the end of the summer, so I'm trying to to take advantage of all the ingredients that are about to disappear from the shelves. Hence, this recipe. Two good tomatoes, diced. Three cloves of raw garlic, diced or crushed through a press. Two tablespoons good olive oil. Fresh basil leaves, coarsely chopped. Red pepper flakes. Salt. Pepper. Combine in the bottom of a large bowl, mash down with a fork. Boil a pound of linguine in heavily salted water. Combine. Serve with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and, if you have it, red wine and crusty bread. Delicious.
