Kevin's right, no one goes negative like the Republicans:
With Giuliani out and Huckabee in, it's not obvious to me that anything can be done to stop McCain. But he can certainly be damaged. I'm not as sanguine as Kevin is about McCain's math -- he's going to rely much more heavily on independents than Bush did -- but the more disgusted the conservative base is with him, the more he'll have to pander to the GOP's hardliners, and the more he panders, the fewer independents he'll attract.
