I have had a policy of never commenting on news stories that mention me or CEPR to avoid the obvious problem of a conflict of interest on this blog. I complain to reporters directly if I think they misrepresented my comments. I am going to make an exception to correct an unusual error. Yesterday, ABC News on-line incorrectly attributed two quotes to me. I did not say that: "In order to understand Obama's economic policies, you have to be a mystic, ...There's no beef." Nor did I say: "There's a lot of beef in Clinton's policies but she wants to take us back to the '70s -- free medical care, tax the big corporations. ... If you add up what all her proposals are going to cost, it's just not possible." After this was called to my attention, I contacted the reporter and the on-line version was quickly corrected to show that these quotes came from University of Maryland professor Peter Morici. Anyhow, I'm sure that this was not malicious, mistakes like this happen occasionally and the correction was made as soon as it was called to their attention. I just wanted to set the record straight.
