As President Bush held his psuedo summit on global warming, it would have been reasonable for the media to note how he has never expressed any concern about the loss of jobs and economic damage caused by the resources diverted from productive purposes to fight the war in Iraq. This is striking since President Bush has repeatedly expressed his desire to take steps to curb global warming, but ruled out the most effective measures because of the harm they could inflict on the economy. The striking contrast between his attitudes towards these two issues deserves attention.
