The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is generally viewed as a reliable source of non-partisan budget and economic analysis. Apparently, the Post does not view CBO this way. In an article on a letter from the National Governors Association calling for an expansion of the State Childrens Health insurance Program (SCHIP), the Post notes criticisms of President Bush's proposed reauthorization plans for SCHIPs. It reports that "supporters of the program say [Presidnt Bush's proposed spedning level] is too small to cover even the 6.6 million children who are currently receiving help." That assertion comes from the analysis done by CBO. It would have been useful to readers to point out that it is not just supporters of the program who believe that President Bush's proposal would lead to reduced coverage.
