- Out in America today, lots of people are fed up. They've reached the end of their rope. They've had it up to here. They're mad as heck, and they're not going to take it anymore. First up: Fresh off yet another victory for the wealthy at the Supreme Court, Charles Koch is absolutely fed up with commoners thinking they can talk back to him, when all he wants is what's best for America. "Instead of encouraging free and open debate, collectivists strive to discredit and intimidate opponents," he writes today in the Wall Street Journal. "They engage in character assassination. (I should know, as the almost daily target of their attacks.) This is the approach that Arthur Schopenhauer described in the 19th century, that Saul Alinsky famously advocated in the 20th, and that so many despots have infamously practiced." So he's not saying outright that people who criticize him are Hitler, but hey, if the jackboot fits…
- Meanwhile, the normally mild-mannered E.J. Dionne is just about fed up with conservative claims that the Affordable Care Act is about to collapse. "From now on, will there be more healthy skepticism about conservative claims against the ACA? Given how many times the law's enemies have said the sky was falling when it wasn't, will there be tougher interrogation of their next round of apocalyptic predictions?"
- In the wake of yesterday's Supreme Court decision on campaign finance, big political donors are already pre-fed-up with being asked for money, now that they've been deprived of the excuse that they've maxed out on their aggregate contribution limit. "I'm horrified, planning to de-list my phone number and destroy my email address," said one pitiable, oppressed multi-millionaire.
- Michael Tomasky writes that Paul Ryan's latest budget shows he's fed up with trying to help poor people, and would rather just kick them when they're down. "I'd like to know, sort of, what's actually in Paul Ryan's head and heart. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter. What matters with him, as with any politician, is what he puts on paper. And here we have it. If this is trying to help the poor, then what Putin is doing in Russia is pro-gay. At least we won't have to read any more 'Paul Ryan loves poor people' stories."
- Apparently fed up with Fidel Castro's refusal to just die already, the U.S. Agency for International Development undertook a clandestine effort to create a Cuban version of Twitter which could be used to foment dissent, the Associated Pressreports. "Yet its users were neither aware it was created by a U.S. agency with ties to the State Department, nor that American contractors were gathering personal data about them, in the hope that the information might be used someday for political purposes."
