Maybe it's just in comparison to the mile-high excitement of the Democrats in Denver, but there is something desultory about the cheering here in the Excel Spreadsheet Arena, or whatever they call this place. The word I'd choose for this convention so far is "quiet." Not patriotic. Not experienced. Not resolved. Certainly not excited. Just quiet. --Harold Meyerson
